This is a genuine, small watercolour (14cms x 9cms) of Whitby harbour piers looking towards Whitby Abbey on the east cliff, inspired by a visit to the Pannett Art Gallery and Museum.
This is a small watercolour (14cms x 9cms) of Whitby harbour piers looking towards Whitby Abbey on the east cliff. I was inspired to paint this scene after a visit to the Pannett Art Gallery and Museum, where I came across an exhibition of George Weatherhill watercolours. He was a 19th century artist who was an admirer of JMW Turner’s watercolours and this shows in his small, brilliant paintings. The art gallery and museum which is found in Pannet Park is well worth a visit.
